The popular DNS management service Zoneedit is experiencing an extended downtime and users are complaining on Twitter. On the positive side, it seems "only" the web interface is affected, and not the DNS services itself. (Update: Site up again after 12 hours of downtime).
We will update this post when Zoneedit is available again. Zoneedit is a great service and we are using it ourself at AlertFox. But we sure wished they had a public dashboard. Every web service should have one.

As far as I can see from my side, the IP update system is also not available... No dynamic IP :-(

Unfortunately if you need to manage your account and change your IP addresses you're hosed. I haven't had email now in over 12 hours and it can take several hours for backed up email to flow through once everything is fixed. To add insult to injury, backed up email comes to me in LIFO order instead of FIFO order.
Trying to contact their support by mail results in:
We have changed how customers contact us. Please note that technical support requests and questions should now be submitted online from our website: http://zoneedit.com/support.html
Thank You,
ZoneEdit Customer Care
This is absolutly unacceptable for paying customers.
And still no information on twitter or anywhere else ...
This is the final issue I will put up with on Zoneedit. I am paying for Dynamic DNS from them and I do not get very good service from them. This is unacceptable. So, today begins the hunt for a new Dynamic DNS provider that is not too expensive.
Well looks like they are working on it .. at least now getting a directory index lol .. ( empty, but still ) and they run Centos with apache 2.2.3
Maybe they are upgrading right away as well then ...
2:30 EST - from their home page:
ZoneEdit Outage.
ZoneEdit is currently down and we are working hard to get it back up. ZoneEdit began experiencing issues yesterday afternoon caused by excessive demand on system resources. All published DNS zones are still available for DNS Queries, but Zone updates via API or the Admin Panel is currently not available. We will begin restoring ZoneEdit services at 11am PT, and hope to have ZoneEdit completely back up this afternoon. We’ll provide another update around 1pm PT.
